Fall offers the last reliable stretch of dry weather in most of the country. Roofing crews can work shingles in cool conditions that are actually easier on asphalt than summer heat, and panels acclimate without the extreme swings of July. The window between Labor Day and Thanksgiving is when most roof replacements and additions get framed, which makes September the most important restocking month for structural panels.

The yard itself has to be ready.
