How to Stop Trumpet Vine From Damaging Your Building

Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans) is a perennial climber grown for its orange, trumpet-shaped flowers, which draw hummingbirds and bees through the summer. The same vigor that produces the bloom makes the plant a hazard near buildings: it reaches 30–40 feet tall and 4–10 feet wide, clings to almost any surface, and spreads far beyond the planting spot. The rootlets work into mortar joints and under siding laps, and mature stems thicken to several inches, prying materials apart as they grow.
